The designer Roberto Cavalli is poised to open his own South Beach restaurant offering tweaked Tuscan specialties and wines produced in the Cavalli family vineyards --

As he lounged poolside at the Delano Hotel in South Beach, Mr. Cavalli recalled earlier visits to the blue-and-white resort. The beach and hectic night life were certainly attractions. “In the old days, and maybe I preferred them, Miami was a little wild,” he said. “But it was impossible to get a nice hotel.” Times change. “Now the city is hot,” he said. Enough of a magnet, in fact, to have inspired him to establish a new outpost. (The Bal Harbour shops are home to a Cavalli boutique.) The restaurant, scheduled to open just in advance of the new year, bears the designer’s candidly louche imprimatur. The interior of the two-story Mediterranean Deco structure, at 150 Ocean Drive, will be bathed in zebra and jaguar prints, the table linens patterned in tropical blooms...." (more at link above)
